People are baptized after they trust Jesus Christ with their lives. Believers’ baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience that symbolizes a person’s faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in a new life under the lordship of Jesus Christ. It is visible evidence of a person’s faith in God and His promises, including the final resurrection of the dead. Baptism by immersion is a requirement for church membership.
